About Puzzle Letters
Puzzle Letters is a free, fast word game toolkit designed for players of Scrabble, Words With Friends, Wordle, Spelling Bee, and every other word game you love. Our mission is simple: help you find words instantly, learn their meanings, and become a better word game player — without ads interrupting you mid-game and without paywalls blocking basic features.
We built Puzzle Letters because existing word tools were too slow, too cluttered, or required app downloads for features that belong in a browser. Every tool on this site works entirely in your browser — no account required, no app to install, and no searches sent to a server. Your words stay on your device.

Who Uses Puzzle Letters
Our users range from casual Wordle players checking a single daily answer to competitive Scrabble tournament players studying rack combinations before a match. Teachers use the random word generator to create spelling exercises. Writers use the anagram solver for creative wordplay. Parents use the word games to make vocabulary practice enjoyable for children. What unites them is the need for a fast, reliable, no-friction word tool.
Our Dictionary
Puzzle Letters uses the ENABLE (Enhanced North American Benchmark LExicon) word list as its primary dictionary — the same word list used by many major word game apps. It contains over 170,000 English words, covering common vocabulary, Scrabble-legal short words (including two-letter words like QI, ZA, and XI), and a broad range of legitimate game-play vocabulary while excluding proper nouns, abbreviations, and offensive terms.
After your first visit, the dictionary is stored in your browser using IndexedDB — a local database built into every modern browser. This means subsequent word lookups happen in milliseconds without any network request, and the tools work offline after the initial load.
How It Works (Technically)
When you enter letters into the unscrambler, your browser runs a Web Worker — a background JavaScript process that doesn't block the UI. The worker generates all valid letter combinations from your input, looks each one up in the locally cached dictionary, and returns matches sorted by Scrabble score. On a typical device, this process completes in under 200 milliseconds for most inputs. For longer inputs (10+ letters with wildcards), it may take 1–2 seconds, but the page remains fully responsive throughout.
None of your searches are logged, transmitted, or stored anywhere outside your own browser. The site has no user accounts, no login, and no tracking of individual word searches.
Privacy
Your word searches happen entirely in your browser and are never sent to our servers. The site uses Google AdSense to display ads (which involves Google's own consent and tracking mechanisms, disclosed in our privacy policy) and may in the future use analytics to understand overall site usage patterns — but individual searches are not tracked. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
